ClariSeq Analytics Launches ClariSeq TB, a New Platform for TB Whole-Genome Sequencing Analysis

September 29, 2026 · 8 min read

New Launch: Introducing ClariSeq TB — MTB/NTM Species ID, Drug Resistance and Insights

ClariSeq Analytics LLP announced the launch of ClariSeq TB, a web-based bioinformatics platform that turns raw Mycobacterium tuberculosis sequencing data into a single, reviewable report. The platform takes FASTQ files from short-read sequencing and returns MTB and NTM species identification, lineage, spoligotype, and drug resistance predictions across 20 TB drugs — all in one dashboard, with no pipeline for labs to build or maintain themselves.

ClariSeq TB is available starting today as a free trial, with paid plans for labs, research groups, and surveillance programs that want ongoing access.

Why we launched ClariSeq TB

The launch responds to a growing gap in TB diagnostics. India carries the largest share of the world's TB cases, and drug-resistant strains are adding pressure to labs that are already stretched. As more labs turn to whole-genome sequencing, a challenge is rising with it: running separate tools for quality checks, species ID, typing, and resistance calling, and then reconciling the outputs manually. Thus, the most important task is becoming the slowest process of workflow.

ClariSeq Analytics built ClariSeq TB to fold that entire stage into one platform, so sequencing capacity translates into usable results faster. A Made in India platform, for the Indian community.

The requirement arise based on a labs decision to implement the sequencing approach. Targeted NGS panels only look at a fixed set of known resistance genes — useful, but blind to anything outside that list. Culture-based whole-genome sequencing captures the full genome instead, so the same sequencing run that reports today's resistance profile can also surface a mutation nobody has catalogued yet. For India, where lab budgets are under constant pressure and new resistance patterns keep emerging, that difference is not academic: one WGS run in place of several targeted assays lowers cost per sample and it turns routine diagnostic sequencing into a running source of new-mutation discovery instead of a dead end once the report is issued.

Hence ClariSeq TB is designed to work directly from WGS or Shotgun sequencing samples to reduce the labs and provide the cost benefit to the patients and labs.

What's included in the launch

The initial release of ClariSeq TB includes:

  • Species-level identification across the MTB complex and 116 NTM species
  • Lineage and spoligotype calling for MTB isolates
  • Resistance predictions across 20 first- and second-line TB drugs, sourced from the WHO mutation catalogue, the CRyPTIC compendium, and curated literature.
  • Circular genome maps rendered with CGView
  • Dashboard views for single samples and full cohorts
  • Deep insights dashboard for all samples sequenced. Providing trends and insights.

Validated Bioinformatics Backbone

ClariSeq TB isn't built from scratch, and it isn't a thin wrapper either. The pipeline runs on globally validated, peer-reviewed open-source tools — the same building blocks used across TB genomics research and public health labs worldwide — so every step of the analysis rests on methods that have already been tested and trusted outside ClariSeq Analytics.

What ties those tools together is custom: a purpose-built orchestration layer and a curated resistance database, tuned specifically for MTB and NTM, that decide how each tool's output feeds the next and how conflicting evidence is resolved. This combination is keeping the platform focused — global validated backbone for trust, a custom pipeline and database for the parts that are specific to TB.

How it works

Labs and researchers can go from raw reads to a finished report in three steps:

  1. Upload raw FASTQ files from short-read sequencing or WGS (Culture or Amplicon)
  2. ClariSeq TB runs species ID, lineage, spoligotype, and resistance analysis automatically.
  3. Review the results together in one dashboard, ready to check and share.

There is no pipeline to install, configure, or keep current — updates to resistance databases and reference data are handled on the platform side.

In practice, most samples move through all three steps in well under an hour, though exact turnaround depends on sequencing depth and how many samples are batched together in a single run.

Advanced Drug resistance monitoring

Drug resistance prediction is the part that matters most in TB surveillance and treatment decision, so ClariSeq Analytics designed it to be the most informative. Each of the 20 first- and second-line drugs covered has its own set of associated resistance mutations, drawn from three evidence sources rather than one.

  • WHO catalogue: the World Health Organization's catalogue of mutations in Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, used as the primary reference for graded resistance associations.
  • CRyPTIC compendium: large-scale phenotype-genotype data from the CRyPTIC consortium, used to corroborate and extend catalogue entries.
  • Curated literature: peer-reviewed findings that fill in mutations or drugs not yet fully covered by the two structured sources above.

Who the launch is aimed at

ClariSeq Analytics built the platform to help the following but not limited

  • Molecular and microbiology labs running routine TB sequencing
  • Researchers working across MTB and NTM
  • Genomic surveillance programs tracking resistance over time
  • Public health teams monitoring outbreak and resistance patterns
  • Teams preparing figures and reports directly from sequencing output

Availability

ClariSeq TB is browser-based platform, with no local installation required. The platform is built to scale from a single research lab to a nationwide surveillance network, reflecting the scope of the problem it targets- India being the largest TB caseload in the world and demand for faster sequencing analysis is rising in reference labs and research centers elsewhere as well.

Pricing and plans

ClariSeq TB launches with a free trial tier so labs can test the platform against their own samples before committing. Beyond the trial, ClariSeq Analytics is offered as per sample analysis with purchased credits adding to your account.

Exact pricing depends on sample volume and is available directly from the ClariSeq Analytics team, which can also advise on which tier fits a given lab's throughput.

Security and data privacy

Because sequencing data can be tied back to patients or research subjects, ClariSeq TB is built with data handling as a core requirement rather than an add-on. Uploaded FASTQ files and generated reports are encrypted in transit and at rest, and each lab's data is kept isolated from other accounts on the platform. ClariSeq Analytics does not use customer sequencing data to train models or share it with third parties.

Raw FASTQ files are not retained once a sample has been analyzed — they are deleted from the platform automatically after processing completes. Everything else generated from that data, including reports, species and resistance calls, and genome maps, is stored on secure cloud servers located exclusively within Indian geography, so a lab's results never leave the country.

What's next

ClariSeq Analytics is treating this launch as the first release rather than a finished product. The team has already flagged expanded NTM species coverage, additional second-line drugs, and an API for labs that want to fold ClariSeq TB into their own reporting systems rather than working solely through the dashboard.

Cohort-level trend views are a first step toward a fully surveillance-ready tool: one that holds up not just for a single lab reviewing single samples, but for programs tracking resistance trends and outbreaks across sites, cohorts, and time. As surveillance use case grows, the platform is built to scale with it rather than needing to be rearchitected once volumes climb.

Getting started

Labs, researchers, and public health teams can start a free trial of ClariSeq TB today or contact the ClariSeq Analytics team to discuss how the platform fits into an existing TB sequencing workflow.

ClariSeq TB is intended to support, not replace, clinical and research decision-making. Results should still be reviewed against local guidelines and, where required, confirmatory testing.

Labs already running whole-genome sequencing can typically start reviewing results the same day they sign up, since the platform requires no local setup beyond a browser and an account.

About ClariSeq Analytics

ClariSeq Analytics builds bioinformatics platforms that make sequencing data usable for the teams generating it. ClariSeq TB is the company's platform for tuberculosis whole-genome sequencing analysis.

The company was formed around the idea that sequencing data is only as useful as the report a lab can generate from it — and that closing the gap between the two is a bigger unlock for TB control than sequencing capacity alone.
